Six hurt in A64 pile-up

SIX motorists were injured in a four-car smash on the A64.

A male was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries following the incident at Ganton crossroads.

A red Ford Fiesta van, travelling towards Scar-borough, was in collision with a white Renault van travelling in the opposite direction towards Malton.

A blue Vauxhall Cavalier and a green Nissan Primera travelling behind the Renault were also involved in collisions.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta suffered very serious injuries and had to be freed from the wreckage by firefighters with cutting equipment.

Five other walking wounded were taken to hospital in Scarborough. Diversions were set up after the incident at 1.30pm yesterday.
