FIREFIGHTERS rushing to a call-out in York were involved in a crash with a car.
The appliance was involved in a collision with a Renault Megane at Walmgate Bar, just after 6pm last night, as firefighters headed to a house in Huntington Road, where burned food had triggered an automatic alarm.
The woman driving the car, Lin Everett, escaped with a minor injury and no firefighters were hurt.
Lin, special publications and property manager at the Evening Press, was turning right out of Walmgate into Barbican Road, through green traffic lights, when the collision occurred with the appliance that was heading from Barbican Road into Foss Islands Road.
She received a grazed nose from her airbag and bruising to her right leg and arm. Today she was recovering at home.
She said: "There was little I could do or they could have done having seen me.
"I'm just putting it down to being one of those things really."
