Tim deserves the outbreak of `Henmania'

From the Evening Press, first published Wednesday 7th Jul 2004.

HOW does Richard Lamb dare to condemn `Henmania' as madness and imply that Tim is not worth this sort of popularity (Letters, July 3)?

Any person who can bring the public together for a good cause, in Tim's case winning tennis matches, is well worth any amount of fan worship. This is a consistent, determined and excellent player, who has won many titles abroad and given our own people hope that he may just win the Wimbledon crown.

He comes back year after year, plays his heart out and is the best news for British tennis for years. The fact that he has so many faithful fans and so much support proves what I believe to be true - that Tim is a champion, win or lose the Wimbledon singles title.
